"Mi Swakshari Karnar"
– Illuminating Lives, One Signature at a Time.

8 May to 22 May 2023

Education is a powerful beacon that lights up lives, transcending boundaries and transforming communities. Under the inspiring project "Mi Swakshari Karnar," which translates to "I will sign," we embarked on a journey to empower illiterate women from 18 remote villages in the Etapalli Block. The mission was simple yet profound: to teach these women how to sign their names, a skill that can unlock doors to a brighter future.

The objective of the project was crystal clear – to impart literacy to 200 women residing in these remote tribal villages. These women, living in the heart of nature, were often deprived of the basic ability to sign their names. Our mission was to change that.Over a span of 15 days, from 8th May 2023 to 22nd May 2023, we undertook a series of activities to achieve our goal.

Street plays resonated through the villages, capturing the attention of residents and conveying the importance of literacy. A thorough baseline survey helped us understand the unique needs of each village. Corner meetings and group discussions provided a platform for open dialogue and participation. Beneficiaries were carefully selected, and stationary was distributed to facilitate their learning. Daily one-hour classes in the evening became a consistent part of their routine.

The impact of "Mi Swakshari Karnar" reverberated across these 18 remote tribal villages. A total of 200 women participated, and an astounding 189 successfully passed the examination, gaining the ability to sign their names confidently. A felicitation program was conducted to honor the participants, recognizing their dedication and achievement. The success of this initiative ignited a desire among the people to continue literacy classes, demonstrating the hunger for knowledge and self-improvement.

The "Mi Swakshari Karnar" project showcases the transformative power of education, underscoring the fact that even the simplest skills can be a gateway to empowerment. As we move forward, we are inspired by the enthusiasm of these women and the potential for change within every individual and community. Together, we will continue to light up lives, one signature at a time.
